We are committed to supporting the community by managing affordable housing options in Brooks, Alberta.

We are a non-profit organization focused on bridging the housing gap by offering secure, well-maintained, and cost-effective living spaces for individuals and families who need them most.

Brooks Housing Society was founded with a vision to address the growing need for affordable housing in the Newell Region. Over the years, we have expanded our operations and improved our housing facilities to better serve the community. By working alongside government agencies and local organizations, we strive to improve housing stability and foster a sense of belonging for our residents.

Our History

Prairie Village is an 87 unit complex made up of 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms units situated at 235 Meadow Lake Way Brooks, Alberta. This affordable housing initiative is owned and operated by Brooks Housing Society.

  • 2002Phase One completed in 2002

    Province of Alberta grant received for the first build $ 1,950,000.00.  Total cost of the 39 unit project $ 4,005,585.00. The project was built on land leased from the Town (City) of Brooks.

  • 2007Society Registration

    Registered November 28, 2007 with the Province of Alberta as  “Brooks Housing Society”

  • 2008Phase Two completed in July 2009

    Brooks Housing applied through the City of Brooks for an Alberta Government Affordable Housing Grant, $ 5,784,782.00 was received. Applying to the Alberta Real Estate Foundation, we received a grant - $ 74,250.00 towards the building of the project and appliances for the laundry rooms. The units were fully occupied by Oct 1, 2009.

Our Board Members

Since its inception, the Brooks Housing Society has been guided and supported by a dedicated group of volunteer board members. Their leadership, commitment, and community spirit have been instrumental in shaping our organization and helping us fulfill our mission to provide affordable housing options in Brooks and the surrounding area.

Our Mission:

The Brooks Housing Society will be recognized as a leader in the planning, development, operation, and support of appropriate, not for profit housing for individuals and families in life situations that restrict access to “for” profit housing in the Newell Region.
