Eligibility, Income Thresholds, and Rental Rates.

The Community Housing program subsidizes rental housing for families, seniors and individuals with low income who cannot afford other housing options due to individual circumstances.

Who is eligible?

Brooks Housing Society operates Prairie Village as an affordable housing initiative. Eligibility is determined based on household income and need. Income guidelines apply and are based on Core Need Income Threshold levels which are regulated by the Alberta Government to ensure fair and accessible housing for all qualified applicants. Guidelines may change annually.

Priority Consideration

Priority is given to individuals and families facing housing insecurity, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those fleeing domestic violence. 

Required Documentation

Applicants must provide proof of income, identification, and any relevant supporting documents to verify eligibility. This may include:

  • Government-issued ID for all household members

  • Recent pay stubs or income verification

  • Proof of assets and liabilities

  • Rental history and references

Applicants whose income falls below the local income thresholds are eligible to apply.

The total household income for all adults must fall within the regulated income thresholds set by the Alberta government. Combined income of all adults living at site must be below or no more than:

One Bedroom Unit

$ 48,000.00

Effective June 2024, rental rate is $735.00 and includes all utilities.

Two Bedroom Unit

$ 52,000.00

Effective June 2024, rental rate is $880.00 and includes all utilities.

Three Bedroom Unit

$ 56,000.00

Effective June 2024, rental rate is $1010.00 and includes all utilities.
